Wiring Gauge

I replaced a bit of the old wiring in my trailer today and it appeared to be #14. Is it common in old trailers to use wire that small? I ended up replacing it with #12 Romex.

Typically, 14 gauge is used for a maximum of 15A of current, and 12 gauge for up to 20A. No issues using 12 ga, except for it not being quite as easy to work with.
